Missions & Service
Joining God’s bigger story
Serving God in both word and deed is a fundamental part of our faith. It enlarges our view of God and his work in the world, and invites us to be a part of it. At Knox, we encourage every member to serve in Hospitality, Community, and Mission.
It is helpful to consider where God has given you Spiritual Gifts, Passions, and a Serving Style as you consider opportunities to serve in the church or the community.
Hospitality
The Welcome Ministry at Knox extends a welcome to neighbors and newcomers, and brings those newcomers into true fellowship with our church. We are intentional about finding newcomers, listening to their stories, and connecting them to ministries and relationships in the church.
Gifts, Passions and Serving Style
Evangelists, Communicators, Shepherds and Intercessors are needed, especially those with a passion for First time visitors; and those who come back to check us out. We need people-focused helpers, who like to listen as people tell their stories.
Specific Needs include Greeters at the front door, Ushers, Coffee Servers, Hospitality leaders and Special Events Servants for One Time Events to set up, serve and clean up.
Building Community
Bringing newcomers and old-timers together in authentic community is the heart of our church. We are always seeking leaders, hosts, and participants to create more opportunities for fellowship and discipleship.
Gifts, Passions and Serving Style
People with communication, shepherding, intercession, counsel and servant gifts who are passionate about building caring groups of 10-30 people. People and Task oriented serving styles work well in serving.
Positions Needed
We are primarily looking for new Leaders to organize groups and equip members to serve in their areas of gifts and passions; Apprentices willing to support existing leaders and prayer catalysts who call us to bring our praises and needs to God.
Service
Diaconate
Knox’s Diaconate exists to minister to the concrete needs of those in crisis in our church and in our wider community (social, emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual).
The booklet linked below is designed to help you, your family, and your community group engage in mercy and justice right here in our church and community. Knox members have participated in these ministries before, and Knox’s deacons are regularly in touch with their needs and opportunities.
Local and Global Missions
Our Missions Committee seeks to be a conduit for care, connection and support from Knox for the missionaries that we support, and helps make budget decisions about who we are supporting.
Knox commits a substantial part of our giving to local organizations and to local and international missionaries that share the gospel and serve practical needs. We also encourage our members to volunteer and participate in mission trips with our ministry partners.
