Art at Knox

Art is an essential expression of worship. God has given each of us gifts to “reflect the beauty of God’s character and creation and to use [our] gifts for His glory” (Our Vision and Values).

Our Goal

Reflecting the beauty of God’s character and creation is something that is a core element of our vision at Knox, but also something that all Christian artists aim to do, whether they belong to Knox or not.

Visual arts can be used to aid in prayer, singing, meditation on the Word, and connecting with others.

Supporting the flourishing of visual arts is one of many ways that Knox will be living out its vision, connecting with people outside of the church, and encouraging the spiritual and relational growth of the Knox community.

Our Permanent Collection

  • Creation Story Mural

    This hallway mural walks students through the story of creation, with each day reflected across the space-light and darkness, sky and water, land and sea vegetation, sun and the moon and stars, sea creatures and birds, and wildlife and livestock-so they experience the fullness of creation as they move through it.

    Instead of painting people into the scenes, the design leaves space for the youth themselves to step into the story as part of God's creation.

    The artwork flows intentionally down the hallway, using shape and movement to frame each doorway and guide the journey, ultimately leading to a stained-glass-inspired Tree of Life-a symbol of growth, connection, and the life we're invited into.

    Dear Jesus, I thank you for the many blessings in my life. I thank you that I am standing here today to witness the many miracles in my life and in the lives of others. You are such a good Father. God, I thank you for the wild adventures of unanswered prayers that led me to something greater than I could have ever imagined. I thank you for the sweet reminders of your goodness in the beauty that surrounds me. Lord help me to stay humble and share with others the many blessings you've given me because they were always Yours. Amen.

    Lord Jesus, help me to discern my next step. Lord, show me the way, Your way, make it known to me. I am waiting. You are the Waymaker, and I know you are working, even when I can't see a way out. Help me to make choices that align with Your will for me. Open my eyes so that I may see how I can be Your vessel today, tomorrow, and for all of my days.
